No Hibernating!

What a wild whirlwind of a winter!  Since our last posting, we have been flying and driving all over the hemisphere submerging ourselves into the world of SUP and surfing…

January took us to first to Orlando, Florida for the Surf Expo. Here we met most of who's who in the business, snagged at least 20 lbs. of literature (+ free stuff -yay!), won a GoPro camera, and got our hands on the latest products hitting the market this year.
We also had a fun photo-op with the legendary pipe-master Gerry Lopez - who was very kind and wished us well in our new venture. Overall, we made some great connections and learned a ton.

Two weeks later, we went to Costa Rica: (a) To spend 8 days at a surf camp with daily instruction, and (b) because it was my 40th birthday and I wanted to go to Costa Rica :)  It was another amazing time in a fun, laid back place called Witch's Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo. The people, the food, the new friends we made…all awesome. The waves were on the smaller side for their standards, but there was much learning for us to do… We stood up some -and wiped out a lot!   Right at the camp we met another surf icon, Robert August, while he was shaping a board.  -We got one of his beautiful, sleek SUP boards last year and just love it.  He also gave a presentation on the history of surfing -which kinda felt to me like the equivalent of Jimmy Page teaching us the history of rock. Super cool…

During this past month, we have finalized the board orders for our initial inventory; and are proud to now carry Pau Hana, Tahoe and Surftech boards.  After some thoughtful analysis, we feel these boards are going to be a great fit for our diverse Michigan waters. There are also several cool updates to our website (thanks to April Yager for all of your hard work).  Now it's time for us to get out and seize our surprisingly warm spring ~ more posts coming soon!
